The Timmerman Difference
About Timber Frames
Timber frames are often described as large scale furniture, but they are more than that—a good timber frame is a combination of fine woodwork, thoughtful design, and seamless integration into an overall structure. Elements of a timber frame are based on personal preference and whether it’s to function as a structural frame, or decorative feature, the overall design takes precedence over any one quality.
Dating back thousands of years, Timber frames remain popular when choosing to build a custom home and in the end, your money goes farther and ends up being a better quality home.
Joinery & Precision By-Hand Cutting
Timmerman remains committed to laying out and cutting each piece by hand, and apart from the flexibility this gives us to execute any and all types of joinery, this also means that someone with skill and experience has graded each piece of wood, assigned it a proper place in the frame, and shaped it accordingly.
Pricing, Costs, Quotes
Timmerman believes that the best way to foster growth for the industry is to make the entire building process as efficient and as cost-effective as possible. Essentially, that means we do not design a frame without considering all finishes and enclosure details, and we do not raise the frame without ensuring that we, or the client, are well-prepared to enclose it.
Our quotes/timber contracts will typically include all design and consultant (P.Eng) costs and generally are 20% higher than a home without a timberframe but of similar design.
